Scenic Ridge^® N Scale Lightweight Layout Kit (US Only)

Description

The Scenic Ridge Kit includes terrain and landscape materials necessary to build a 3' x 6' N scale lightweight layout. Risers and Inclines/Declines create hills, mountains and low-lying areas. Foam Sheets make flat, elevated areas for towns and buildings. Use the Plaster Cloth to create a hard terrain covering. Make and install rocks, add tunnel portals and culverts. Add roads and landscape with a wide variety of scenery products. The sturdy, completed layout needs no plywood base or additional structural support.

• Can the Layout Kits be altered to a diffrent scale?

  Yes, more experienced modelers can adapt the Layout Kits to another scale. A new track plan will need to be configured, and some items including, Portals and Culverts may not be the correct size for your scale. You may want to consider using the Mod-U-Rail System. 

• I am getting ready to start the Scenic Ridge layout and am using a table as the base but will need to add a top of the correct dimension for the set up. What would you suggest I use as the base? Plywood? Particle board? And what thickness?

  Plywood or particle board would work well. We recommend 3/4" medium-density fiberboard (MDF). Be sure the material you use is sturdy and provides a work area large enough to accommodate the Scenic Ridge Layout.

• I really like the looks of the Scenic Ridge® N Scale Layout Kit but I am a little confused as to what it comes with, and what I need to buy extra. Could you please send me a full list (minus train) that I need to get from you?

  To build the Scenic Ridge layout as it is pictured in the catalog and on the Website, you will need to purchase the following items (additional common household modeling supplies are also required).
  -Scenic Ridge Layout Kit
  -Town & Factory Building Set 
  -Scenic Ridge Atlas Track Pack 
  

• If I purchased a Scenic Ridge Layout, would I be able to use my Kato track? If so, will anything have to be changed?

  Yes, but you will need to contact Kato directly for their version of the Scenic Ridge track plan. Kato has a link for their track plan on their US website. The Kato track plan will need to be used in place of our track plan that is printed on the foam base.

• Can track other than Atlas be used with your Layout Kits?

  We designed our Layout Kits to work with the Atlas Track. Atlas makes a high quality track that is easy to work with and great for beginners. We don't recommend a beginner trying to alter the kit by using another type of track. While it is possible, it will work better for someone already experienced with SubTerrain and track layouts. It requires designing a new track plan and reconfiguring the layout of the Risers and Inclines.
