The revolutionary SubTerrain System consists of lightweight foam components, such as Risers*, Incline Sets and Starters*, Profile Board and Foam Sheets. These foam components help you easily create terrain with hills, mountains, valleys and low-lying areas on your layout. There is no reason to use heavy plywood or make complicated calculations. SubTerrain System layouts are easy to move, are built without power tools and never create a dusty mess.

1. Use at least a 2" Riser to elevate your track. For a more dramatic landscape, use 4" Risers. To install, butt sections tightly and pin in place. Attach with Low Temp Foam Glue or Foam Tack Glue.

2. Incline Sets are a series of foam pieces that elevate your track: 2% elevates track from 0 to 4" in 16', 3% elevates track from 0 to 4 1/2" in 12', and 4% raises the track from 0 to 4" in 8'. Incline Starters include several identical foam pieces that elevate your track: 2% Starters raise the elevation from 0 to 1/2" in 24", 3% raise the elevation from 0 to 3/4" in 24" and 4% Starters raise the elevation from 0 to 1" in 24". You can use Incline Starters alone or with Incline Sets to start your track on an incline.

3. Profile Boards are used around the perimeter of your layout to define the contours. Their special interlocking design allows them to be placed end-to-end, or stacked and locked together. Profile Boards come with connectors for easy assembly.

4. Use Foam Sheets to create elevated flat areas for towns, tunnels and contour supports. Build supports with scrap foam to elevate the Foam Sheets and attach with Low Temp Foam Glue or Tack Glue.

6. Don't forget the Plaster Cloth! It makes the hard shell covering on your layout. It is an easy, convenient and light way to create a durable terrain base. Just wad newspapers and stack them to form the desired shape. Dip the Plaster Cloth in water and lay over the newspaper wads. 8" wide x 15' long (10 sq. ft.).
