Our landscaping system is based on nature’s principal of contrasts and highlights. Although many of our colors are close, slight variations occur from batch to batch. These variations help create more realistic scenery and are easily blended with other existing colors.
No, a hair dryer will not get hot enough to do this. A Woodland Scenics Hot Heat Tool is recommended (RG5162). Be sure to use the glove that is included.
The ReadyGrass Mat was not designed to get wet. Although, a short sprint in a light rain now and then won't be a disaster if the mat is prepped properly. It can be sprayed with a few light layers of Scenic Cement (S191), but make sure not to saturate and let dry completely between each layer. Note that this will make the ReadyGrass Mat a bit darker.
Question: The Road Pavement results I have are not what I expected. It has dried with ruts and cracks. What can I do to remedy this?
Answer: You might try using a little less water in the mix to create a thick mixture. Use a lighter touch when smoothing out the road between the Paving Tape, as the tape is a spongy material and easily compresses and results in a wavy surface. A good way to fill in the imperfections is to apply the mixture with a putty knife. Use a spray bottle with water to dampen the paved area first to get good adhesion and more working time.
Approximately 15 tree armatures can be foliaged with an 18 cubic inch bag of foliage. This of course depends on how thick the foliage is applied and how large the trees are.
Woodland Scenics products are not designed to be exposed to the outdoor elements, but a covered patio would probably be OK. The foliage products are relatively UV stable if they are not in constant, direct sunlight.
A hot glue gun, or our Woodland Scenics Low Temp Glue Gun (ST1445) will work the best. It is recommended that the surface on which the foliage is glued to be sanded first with a coarse grit sandpaper to assure good adhesion.
Coverage approximation depends upon individual usage. Heavy coverage will reduce the total area covered, and light usage will extend it. Generally, one bag contains enough Fine Turf to cover approximately 1,530 square inches or 10 square feet. One Fine Turf Shaker is equal to three bags, which equates to an approximate total coverage area of 4,600 sq. inches or 30 sq. feet. For large projects, Fine Turf and other scenery products are available in bulk quantities. Modelers wanting bulk quantities should talk to the owner of their local hobby shop.
1 bag = aproximately 16 oz. or 2 cups. / 1 oz covers 8x12 or 96 sq inches of area. / 1 gallon will cover 8448 sq. in. or 60 sq. ft.
One box of Forest Canopy will cover approximately 2 sq. feet. It will be less or more depending on how dense you want the coverage.
Yes, you can slow down the setting time of the Smooth-It. This can be accomplished by using ice cold water in the mixture. You can slow the drying process down even further by adding some sugar. The addition of carbohydrates slows down the reaction of the plaster.
The coating on the Fruit and Flowers will run if they are sprayed heavily with adhesive. The way to accomplish adhering them is to spray the base you are putting them on with adhesive, let it sit a awhile to soak in, then sprinkle on your Fruit or Flowers. Do not overspray the top of them unless you do so very lightly with a misting only.
Woodland Scenics Foam Tack Glue (ST1444) will work fine if Mat Adhesive is not readily available. The contact method should always be used when gluing the ReadyGrass Mat down. This is done by placing the adhesive on both the base and the back of the mat.
